about

Welcome to These Light Footsteps, the blog related to Light Footsteps Herb Farm & Learning Center.
My name is Christine and I'm a permaculturist, herbalist, and biologist doing my best to follow the rhythms of the natural world. I like to write about herbalism, backyard farming, permaculture projects, simple living, and finding spirit in nature. I'm also an attachment/gentle parent and advocate for women's choices in birth.
Please look around, I hope you'll find something you like!

Another successful class helping new parents learn the essentials of birth including anatomy basics, stages of labor, coping techniques, how to avoid interventions, and more (like hip squeezes pictured here!). Taking a class outside of the hospital makes sure you’re informed with a holistic perspective on what to expect and how to best advocate for what you want so you can start parenthood 🌟 empowered 🌟. Join me for my next class at @motherrisingcle March 11. Private classes are available any time!
Looking for a brief yet comprehensive understanding of the stages of labor, comfort measures, and how to achieve the birth that YOU want? We have room for another couple (or two) in this Saturday’s class, or at the date in December. You also have the option to add on the most awesome breastfeeding class with @mamabirdhendry in November! Class is located at the @motherrisingcle studio in Chardon. Find the link in my bio or message me to sign up!
Posted @withregram • @wc_holisticmidwifery How was your Labor Day weekend? @midwife_kt and @resilient_birth_botanicals got the privilege of helping this little guy celebrate his birthday. Perfect weekend celebration if you ask us!
Just made my last batch of Bug-a-Bye for the season. Made with a base of homegrown yarrow infusion. Limited stock. Find the link to the shop in my profile.
Let labor begin on its own. ✔️
Resilient Birth Prep is back this July! A simple commitment that will leave you feeling like you are prepared for birth and the postpartum experience! Join @mamabirdhendry on July 16th for her amazing 2 hour breastfeeding and postpartum workshop and me on July 30 for a 2.5 hour deep dive into the stages of labor, comfort measures, basic anatomy of birth, and more! Both classes begin at 10am and are located @motherrisingcle in Chardon. Take one or combine them for a discount. Message me for more info!
Looking for a simple way to learn the essentials for your summer or early fall birth? I’ll be teaching a short overview class at @motherrisingcle on June 18 from 10-12:30. Take it alone or be EXTRA prepared by combining it with the amazing @mamabirdhendry Prepare Your Nest class about breastfeeding and postpartum healing on July 16. All participants will leave with a workbook and lots of my favorite resources to continue studying on their own. DM me with questions, or register at the link in my bio.
